War Between the North and the South: Union and Confederacy: Brother to Brother
The Civil War was more than just a significant movement to end slavery – as a whole it was a change to the America system. While the South was stuck with outdated ideas and a huge dependence on slavery the North continued to grow, develop, and improve becoming economically stable. As time passed both regions became very differed from each other - economically and technology wise as did the mentality and principles on certain topics/ideas. The North favored the end of slavery and the South desired slavery for the caste system it provided and threatened to secede. However, what exactly caused brother to fight brother? Was it ever really resolved? Although it may be incorrect the idea of improving rights, the concept of freedom, and the hope to unify the regions drove brother to fight brother.
Despite the fact of bloodshed men fought either to end or continue slavery. White Southerners loved how even though they were uneducated and poor they were not at the bottom of the social ladder. African Americans, the bottom of the social ladder, were considered property not human. It was a pride and desperateness that drew men to fight to continue slavery. Northerners argued against the Southern morals and stated they were wrong. The founding fathers ironically wrote in the Declaration of Independence the quote, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed to their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” Northerners argued are all humans no matter the race, language, religion, and nationality are the same species. What right do you have to identify a human as property? African Americans have just the same rights as Whites to be a citizen, vote, own property, and be educated. The Civil War that the concept is important for all men. It also hinted that the Constitution needed mends and improvements to guarantee better rights to the people. Brother fought brother to unify both regions who seemed like two separate countries.
